Met Brooks once in a store - couldn't believe how big he was in person! Fortunately, I was at Camden Yards with my 2 brothers when his statue was unveiled and he gave his speech! I'm not afraid to admit I had tears in my eyes as he made it feel like he was talking to me and invoking all those glory days on 33rd St. !
My father had a business trip in Baltimore once and Brooks ended up showing him to his ballpark seat!
